Respecting the proportions of the whole face. Building gradually rather than transforming in one appointment. Enhancing volume subtly. Preserving the natural texture and movement of the lip, because overfilling makes lips look stiff. And clear communication so expectations are realistic on both sides.

Lips do not exist in isolation. The relationship between the upper lip, lower lip and chin determines whether a profile reads as balanced. Dr Harriet assesses that relationship before treating, and will sometimes recommend a small amount of chin work alongside the lips because it produces a better overall result than adding more volume to the lips themselves.

Consultation first, covering your medical history, what you want to change and what is achievable for your anatomy. Topical numbing cream is applied and left to work. Dr Harriet then marks and treats, checking symmetry as she goes and asking you to look in the mirror during the process rather than only at the end. Most appointments take around 45 minutes including numbing.

For patients new to lip treatment, a conservative first appointment followed by a review is usually better than trying to reach the end point in one session. It lets the lips adapt, lets swelling fully settle so you are judging a real result, and avoids the abrupt change that other people notice. Patients who already have filler in place are assessed on what is there before anything is added.
